JUNE
• June 1
- NEW FISCAL (BUDGET) YEAR BEGINS.
- NEW OFFICERS ASSUME OFFICE
- NEW COMMITTEE CHAIRS AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS ASSUME RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Treasurer reviews signature cards for bank accounts and takes appropriate action.
JULY
• July 1
- Treasurer sends copies of annual financial report of previous year to Auditing Committee.
AUGUST
• August 1
- Treasurer handles report to the State Budget Agency for the money received annually from them.
• Early August
- Youth Activities Committee convenes.
• August 12
Science and Society Fall Forum plans completed.
SEPTEMBER
• September 1
- Executive Director publicizes the November Science and Society Fall Forum, Indiana State Museum Auditorium.
- Newsletter deadline for October (fall) issue entries (to include information regarding the spring Annual Academy Meeting, the call for papers and posters, information about fall events, and membership renewal information).
• Early September
- Section Chairs convene with the Executive Director to plan Section Program for the spring Annual Academy Meeting.
• September 15
- Fall deadline for receipt by Research Grants Committee of research grant proposals from senior members.
- Pre-registration opens on-line Science and Society Fall Forum.
- Annual Academy Meeting information posted on the Website (1st notice).
OCTOBER
• October 1:
- Deadline for receipt of fall issue of Newsletter.
- Membership Drive begins (New member invitations and first notice of membership dues renewal for upcoming year) NOTE: Dues paid during the last quarter of the year (October - December) apply to the next membership year.
- Fall deadline for receipt of research grant proposals from high school students.
Early October: Annual Academy Meeting exhibitor notices sent to potential supporters.

- Section Chairs email 1st Call for Paper and Poster abstracts to members.
• October 17
- Research Committee announces fall grant recipients.
• October 26
- Deadline for high school students to apply to the Junior Grants Committee for research grant awards.
NOVEMBER
• November 1
- Executive Director sends second membership dues notice reminder.
• November 7
- Pre-registration closes for the Science and Society Fall Forum.
• November 12
- SCIENCE AND SOCIETY FALL FORUM
- Fall Council Business Meeting (immediately following Science and Society Fall Forum. 12:30 pm-3:00pm, Indiana State Museum)
• November 15
- Newsletter deadline for December (winter) issue (to include information about candidates and the voting process, information about pre-registration for the Annual Academy Meeting, and details about the Call for Papers.
- Section Chairs email 2nd Call for Paper and Poster abstracts to members. (Abstract uploading begins January 1, 2012 and ends February 15, 2012).

- Youth Activities Committee sends grant proposal to AAAS for high school research grants funds.
DECEMBER
• December 1
- : Deadline for nominations for Academy Awards to reach Executive Director.
- Deadline for nominations for Academy Fellows to reach Executive Director.
- Deadline for nominations to reach Nominations and Elections Committee Chair (Executive Director).
• December 15
- Nominating Committee Chair sends reminder to vote, to members.
- Treasurer prepares the Indiana Non-Profit Corporation Report (State Form 2423R5); submits it to the Secretary of State.
- Executive Director sends final dues notice to members who have not yet renewed.
- Section Chairs email final Call for Paper and Poster Abstracts to members. (Abstract uploading begins January 1, 2012 and ends February 15, 2012)

- TAX YEAR ENDS
- MEMBERSHIP YEAR ENDS. Membership drive ends. Membership list purged.
JANUARY

- Annual Academy Meeting online pre-registration opens. On-site registration available.
- Annual Academy Meeting Paper and Poster Abstract uploading begins.
FEBRUARY
• February 1
- Newsletter deadline for March (spring) issue.
- Section Chairs send final reminder to Section members for paper and poster abstract uploads, due by February 15, 2011.

- Deadline for receipt of Annual Academy Meeting Paper and Poster abstracts.
• February 15
- Deadline for member voting.
- Annual Academy Meeting Exhibitor Registration closes.
• February 22
- Deadline for Section Chairs to submit Annual Academy Meeting Section Program to the Executive Director.
MARCH
• March 1
- Research Grants Committee’s spring deadline for receipt of proposals from Academy members
• Early March
- Executive Director mails Annual Academy Meeting Preliminary Program to members, and post on Website.
- Annual Academy Meeting online pre-registration closes. On-site registration available.
- Science and Society Committee begin planning the Fall Forum (November).

- Deadline for officers and committee chairs to submit budget requests to the Treasurer (following the Annual Academy Meeting).
- Deadline for Budget Committee to meet and approve next year’s budget (following Annual Academy Meeting).

- Research Grants Committee announces new research grants (spring round).
- Deadline dates and other important entries by Council or Committee chairs are due to the Executive Director for entry in the next year Academy Yearbook.

- Academy Secretary notifies Committee Chairs and Section Chairs of their duties and deadlines.
MAY
• May 1
- : Newsletter deadline for June (summer) issue.
- Deadline for Treasurer to file Federal (Form 990) and State (Form IT-35AR) Returns for tax-exempt organizations.
• May 15
- Deadline for Proceedings Editor to send request for Allotment (Form 5750) to State Budget Agency.
- Deadline for Summer Research Fellowship Chair to complete arrangements for summer programs.
• End of May
- Executive Director distributes the new ACADEMY YEARBOOK.
• May 31
- END OF FISCAL YEAR. END OF BUDGET YEAR.

September 13: THE TALLAMY LECTURE: “Networks for Life: A Strategy for Addressing Biodiversity Crisis Through Landscape Connectivity” Clowes Hall, Butler University, 7:30 pm; Sponsored by the Indiana Native Plant and Wildlife Society, Butler University Center for Urban Ecology, and the Indiana Academy of Science.
October 8: CELEBRATE SCIENCE INDIANA, Sponsored by Eli Lilly, Science Education Foundation of Indiana, and the Indiana Academy of Science
November 12: SCIENCE AND SOCIETY FALL FORUM, “Discovering the Wonders of Science through the Sensations of Music”, Indiana State Museum Auditorium, 10am-Noon. The Indiana Academy of Science in partnership with the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra, and with the support of the Indiana State Museum.
